About the Role
Role Overview
We are seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer to support Axle Carrier Machining operations, with a strong focus on continuous improvement in safety, quality, delivery, and productivity. This role will lead machining process improvements, structured problem-solving, and lean manufacturing initiatives while ensuring compliance with corporate, environmental, and operational standards.


Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing & Process Engineering

  • Support manufacturing process engineering activities for machining operations
  • Apply engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish, control, and continuously improve machining processes
  • Deliver capable processes, tools, and equipment supporting Carrier Machining operations
  • Lead resolution of machining-related concerns, including variability reduction initiatives

Quality & Problem Solving

  • Lead interim and permanent corrective actions using 8D methodology, 5-Why, and structured problem-solving tools
  • Analyze carrier inventory and reject data to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
  • Create and maintain process sheets, work instructions, and quality documentation
  • Support PPAP, FMEA, DOEs, and process validation activities

Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement

  • Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, productivity, and throughput
  • Identify throughput constraints and lead root cause improvements to achieve Rate of Climb (ROC) targets
  • Lead and support Lean initiatives including:
    • 5S
    • Kanban
    • Poka-Yoke
    • Value Stream Mapping
    • Kaizen and TQM methods
  • Support Visual Factory Management best practices

Audits, Compliance & Ergonomics

  • Lead and conduct process audits to ensure compliance with Powertrain Operations guidelines
  • Ensure compliance with Plant, Corporate, Governmental, Environmental, and ISO 14001 standards
  • Support internal ISO audits and ongoing ISO 14001 compliance
  • Conduct job ergonomic evaluations and implement corrective actions

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Demonstrate strong leadership behaviors
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Quality, Production, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams
  • Lead technical problem-solving efforts with strong interpersonal and communication skills

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of related experience in Manufacturing, Process, or Industrial Engineering
  • Hands-on experience with CMM gaging and/or CNC machining environments
  • Strong problem-solving skills using 8D and structured methodologies
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Good Manufacturing Practices
 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lean Six Sigma experience
  • PPAP, FMEA, DOE, and process validation experience
  • Machining and tooling knowledge
  • DMAIC and DMADV (DFSS) project experience
  • Visual Factory Management experience
  • Ergonomic analysis knowledge
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
