About the Role
Role Overview
We are seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer to support Axle Carrier Machining operations, with a strong focus on continuous improvement in safety, quality, delivery, and productivity. This role will lead machining process improvements, structured problem-solving, and lean manufacturing initiatives while ensuring compliance with corporate, environmental, and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing & Process Engineering
- Support manufacturing process engineering activities for machining operations
- Apply engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish, control, and continuously improve machining processes
- Deliver capable processes, tools, and equipment supporting Carrier Machining operations
- Lead resolution of machining-related concerns, including variability reduction initiatives
Quality & Problem Solving
- Lead interim and permanent corrective actions using 8D methodology, 5-Why, and structured problem-solving tools
- Analyze carrier inventory and reject data to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
- Create and maintain process sheets, work instructions, and quality documentation
- Support PPAP, FMEA, DOEs, and process validation activities
Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement
- Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, productivity, and throughput
- Identify throughput constraints and lead root cause improvements to achieve Rate of Climb (ROC) targets
- Lead and support Lean initiatives including:
- 5S
- Kanban
- Poka-Yoke
- Value Stream Mapping
- Kaizen and TQM methods
- Support Visual Factory Management best practices
Audits, Compliance & Ergonomics
- Lead and conduct process audits to ensure compliance with Powertrain Operations guidelines
- Ensure compliance with Plant, Corporate, Governmental, Environmental, and ISO 14001 standards
- Support internal ISO audits and ongoing ISO 14001 compliance
- Conduct job ergonomic evaluations and implement corrective actions
Leadership & Collaboration
- Demonstrate strong leadership behaviors
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Quality, Production, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams
- Lead technical problem-solving efforts with strong interpersonal and communication skills
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of related experience in Manufacturing, Process, or Industrial Engineering
- Hands-on experience with CMM gaging and/or CNC machining environments
- Strong problem-solving skills using 8D and structured methodologies
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Good Manufacturing Practices
Preferred Qualifications
- Lean Six Sigma experience
- PPAP, FMEA, DOE, and process validation experience
- Machining and tooling knowledge
- DMAIC and DMADV (DFSS) project experience
- Visual Factory Management experience
- Ergonomic analysis knowledge
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
