Process Engineer
Contract Duration: 1 year (with potential for extension)
Location: Sunnyvale, CA
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3 days on-site per week)
Pay: $98.00/hr
About the Role
We are seeking a Process Engineer to support the development and scaling of innovative manufacturing processes and materials for advanced engineering applications. In this role, you will help drive process development from early research through pilot and production readiness, working closely with cross-functional engineering teams. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on process development, rapid prototyping, and bridging the gap between design and manufacturability in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with mechanical, manufacturing, process, and materials engineers to develop, refine, and document polymer-based fabrication processes
- Design and execute process validation efforts using a full life-cycle approach to ensure production of high-quality, conforming parts
- Lead the production of components using newly developed processes while meeting aggressive timelines and manufacturability goals
- Specify, set up, and operate analytical and inspection equipment used in process development and quality verification
- Support designers and engineers by identifying and resolving manufacturing constraints, tooling gaps, or process blockers
- Contribute to establishing standard operating procedures (SOPs), work-in-progress (WIP) documentation, and process control methodologies
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Polymer Science, Chemistry, Composites, or a related technical discipline
- Hands-on manufacturing experience, ideally within consumer electronics or electromechanical products
- Experience scaling processes from research or prototype stages into pilot or volume manufacturing
- Strong understanding of design for assembly and design for manufacturability principles
- Ability to plan and execute process development activities, including design of experiments (DOE), parameter optimization, and quality control strategies
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with camera modules, PCBA-related processes, or complex electromechanical assemblies
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar design/documentation tools
- Laboratory experience using analytical equipment such as microscopes, X-ray systems, or optical inspection tools
- Exposure to AR/VR devices or advanced consumer hardware is a plus
- Prior experience in a senior or lead process engineering capacity
