Job Title: Production Technician – Material Handling
Contract Duration: 9 months with the possibility for extension
Location: North Reading, Massachusetts
Schedule: 6:15 AM – 2:45 PM
Pay Rate: $20 per hour 

Overview

We are seeking a Manufacturing Associate to support the production of complex electro-mechanical equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role may focus on hands-on assembly of robotic and electromechanical components, warehouse material handling, or a combination of both based on business needs. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and able to collaborate effectively within a team environment.

Key Responsibilities

Electro-Mechanical Assembly

  • Assemble complex electromechanical components and subassemblies by following work instructions, blueprints, specifications, and parts lists.
  • Gather required tools, materials, and components to complete assembly tasks.
  • Perform assembly, repair, rework, and related manufacturing activities as needed.

Material Handling & Inventory Support

  • Move, stage, and deliver materials and components to production workstations.
  • Operate pallet jacks, carts, and other material handling equipment safely.
  • Assist with kitting, labeling, and organizing production parts and materials.
  • Support inventory accuracy through proper documentation, scanning, and system updates.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with replenishment activities.

Quality & Production Support

  • Follow written work instructions and accurately perform data entry within production and manufacturing systems.
  • Conduct quality inspections and document production and quality results.
  • Maintain accurate production records and complete required forms and system transactions.
  • Work with an understanding of critical-to-quality standards and manufacturing best practices.

Safety & Team Collaboration

  • Adhere to all safety procedures and safe manufacturing practices.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrate initiative, accountability, and a commitment to meeting daily production goals.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods (7+ hours per shift).
  • Ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written instructions in English.
  • Ability to use handheld scanners and perform computer-based data entry.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks while sitting or standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to work all scheduled shifts, including overtime when required.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Comfortable working in a mechanical manufacturing setting and using power tools and related equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ year of manufacturing, production, or warehouse experience.
  • Experience with ERP, MES, inventory management, or manufacturing software systems.
  • Ability to interpret work instructions, part drawings, blueprints, and traveler documentation.
  • Familiarity with material handling best practices, including lifting, staging, cart usage, and PPE requirements.
  • Experience with inventory control, labeling, and production documentation.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to accuracy.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment while following all safety regulations and procedures.
