Job Title: Programmer 3
Contract Duration: 7 months, possible extension

Pay Range: $35 – $39/hr

Summary
The Programmer 3 is responsible for designing, developing, testing, implementing, and supporting enterprise applications with a primary focus on Microsoft technologies. This role requires a highly skilled and well-rounded developer who can work independently with minimal supervision while contributing across multiple projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Azure, C#, .NET technologies, SQL Server, application architecture, and enterprise data modeling. Responsibilities range from solution design and technical planning to coding, testing, documentation, reporting, and mentoring junior team members.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university

Experience

  • 6+ years of professional software development experience

Responsibilities
Application Development

  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise web and desktop applications.
  • Develop ASP.NET web applications and .NET-based solutions using .NET Framework 1.1 through current versions.
  • Create and maintain reusable software components and development standards.
  • Develop and support APIs, web services, and data integration solutions.
  • Create simple to complex reports, including HTML-based reporting solutions.
  • Work across multiple projects and application areas as assigned.

Solution Design & Analysis

  • Participate in solution architecture, technical planning, and application design.
  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Support enterprise data modeling and database design efforts.
  • Recommend software reusability and development best practices.

Database Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases.
  • Create and optimize:
    • Stored Procedures
    • Functions
    • Tables
    • Views
    • SQL queries and database objects
  • Support SQL Server environments from SQL 2000 through SQL 2018.

Testing & Quality Assurance

  • Perform unit testing and system testing.
  • Create and maintain test plans and test documentation.
  • Participate in manual QA testing activities and validation processes.
  • Ensure application functionality meets business and technical requirements.

Documentation

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation.
  • Document application functionality, testing methods, and system processes.
  • Create business process flows, functional diagrams, and technical flowcharts.
  • Develop implementation and support documentation.

Collaboration & Mentorship

  • Communicate effectively with project stakeholders and technical teams.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers.
  • Conduct formal knowledge-sharing sessions through verbal instruction and technical documentation.
  • Contribute ideas for process improvements and adoption of new technologies and tools.

Required Technical Skills

  • Development Technologies: Microsoft Azure, C#, .NET Framework 1.1 through current versions, .NET Core / .NET, ASP.NET, JavaScript, Knockout.js, JSON, APIs/Web Services, ActiveX Controls
  • Database Technologies: Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Server 2000–2018, Stored Procedures, Functions, Tables, Views
  • Version Control: Git (preferred), Experience with any source control/version management system
  • Testing & Documentation: System Testing, Unit Testing, Test Documentation, Technical Documentation

Preferred Tools

  • Microsoft Visio or similar diagramming tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with enterprise application architecture and data modeling.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adopt new technologies.
  • Experience supporting applications throughout the full software development lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with manual quality assurance testing processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Work Environment
Projects and assignments will be directed by the Application Manager.
Responsibilities may range from complex application development to lower-level development tasks as needed.
Position supports multiple projects and business areas and is not dedicated to a single application or initiative.
