Project/Program Manager IT 3 (Senior Project Manager)
Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)
Pay Rate: $53-$57/hour
About the Role
Caterpillar’s Digital division is seeking a high-impact Project/Program Manager to drive clarity, alignment, and execution across application development initiatives. This role partners closely with Engineering, Product, Platform, and Analytics teams to ensure leadership has a clear and consistent view of progress, risks, and priorities.
The ideal candidate is highly structured, detail-oriented, and capable of translating complex, cross-functional inputs into clear, decision-ready insights. This is a fast-paced, matrixed environment requiring strong communication, executive presence, and independent judgment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and communicate development roadmaps, timelines, and priorities
- Track risks, dependencies, and overall project health across teams
- Attend development and technical meetings to gather updates, issues, and milestones
- Synthesize information into clear, cohesive project summaries and executive updates
- Build professional presentations and dashboards for a variety of stakeholders
- Drive cross-functional collaboration across engineering, product, and leadership teams
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 5+ years of experience in project/program management within software development environments
- Strong understanding of SDLC and CI/CD processes
- Experience with Azure DevOps
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Power BI, SQL, or Python
- Strong data storytelling and visualization skills
- Ability to tailor messaging and insights to both technical and non-technical audiences
- MBA or equivalent business training is a plus
Work Environment
- Hybrid role – 3 days onsite in Chicago office
- Monday–Friday, standard first shift
- Up to 25% travel (potentially to Peoria, IL)
- Regular collaboration with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders
