Job Title: Central Technical Triage Engineer
Location: Dearborn, Michigan
Pay Range: $34-36 per hour
Job Type: W2 Contract
Expected Hours per Week: 40 hours per week
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Position Summary: 
We are seeking a Central Technical Triage Engineer to serve as a key link between Customer Warranty, Quality, Product Development, and Manufacturing teams. This role acts as the first line of defense in identifying, classifying, and routing emerging vehicle issues. The engineer will leverage vehicle systems knowledge and modern AI-powered tools to analyze warranty claims, determine problem objects, and ensure issues are routed to the appropriate engineering or manufacturing teams. The position requires a strong systems-thinking mindset and the ability to translate customer concerns into structured technical problem statements that accelerate root-cause analysis and quality improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze customer warranty claims and field data to identify emerging vehicle issues.
  • Classify and route technical concerns to the appropriate engineering or manufacturing teams.
  • Translate customer-facing issue descriptions into structured technical problem statements.
  • Collaborate with Customer Warranty, Quality, Product Development, and Manufacturing organizations.
  • Support root-cause investigations and drive rapid quality improvements.
  • Utilize AI-powered tools and data analytics to improve issue detection and triage processes.
  • Evaluate vehicle system concerns and determine correct problem object assignments.
  • Track and communicate issue status across cross-functional stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Automotive Engineering, Quality, Service Engineering, or Manufacturing.
  • Strong Systems Engineering background.
  • Experience analyzing technical issues and coordinating cross-functional resolutions.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering.
  • Experience with warranty databases or field service data analysis.
  • Data Analysis experience.
  • .NET Framework experience.
  • Experience working with vehicle quality, warranty, or customer concern investigations.
  • Knowledge of automotive systems and engineering processes.
