Position Summary
We are seeking a Customer Service Engineer (CSE) to serve as the primary liaison between the manufacturing plant and customer facility. This role is responsible for customer support, product verification, quality investigations, containment activities, reporting, and communication of non-conformance issues. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, customer-focused, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the communication link between the customer plant and manufacturing facility.
  • Verify and re-verify parts within company systems.
  • Perform first-level analysis of non-conformances and suspect product.
  • Maintain product testing equipment.
  • Input and manage data within the Incident Reporting System (IRS).
  • Coordinate initial 24-hour containment activities and additional containment efforts as needed.
  • Expedite non-conforming material back to the manufacturing facility on the same day.
  • Provide technical support and system-related guidance to customers.
  • Participate as a key member of response and problem-solving teams.
  • Prepare and submit weekly trip reports.
  • Monitor and negotiate customer return Parts Per Million (PPM) rates.
  • Coordinate special event activities and customer support initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships to support business growth and product improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • 6-10+ years of related experience in manufacturing, quality, customer service engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and email.
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with quality processes, containment activities, and product verification preferred.

Work Environment

  • Position is based onsite at a customer facility in Sterling Heights, MI.
  • Frequent interaction with customers, manufacturing personnel, and quality teams.
