The ideal candidate will build a working knowledge of the State’s insurance program and grow into a trusted resource for agencies and leadership.

Key Responsibilities:
•    Manage claims activity with the State’s third-party administrator, including approvals, denials, releases, and related TPA duties within delegated authority.
•    Prepare over-authority claim requests with supporting documentation for review and decision by the Head of Risk Management.
•    Monitor TPA service against the State’s client service instructions and report claim trends and open issues on a set cadence.
•    Administer insurance billing, including premium invoicing, reconciliation, payment tracking, and allocation preparation.
•    Learn the State’s insurance program, including property, auto liability, railroad liability, and medical malpractice, and be able to explain coverage to agency staff.
•    Review RFPs and scopes of work on an ad hoc basis and set appropriate insurance requirements, while helping improve the State’s related processes and practices.
•    Serve as a point of contact for agency staff on routine claims, insurance requirement, and billing matters, and stay informed on broker communications and inquiries.
•    Maintain claim, policy, and billing records and respond to inquiries received through the Risk Management inbox.
•    Support the annual renewal process by gathering underwriting data and exposure information.
•    Support the Head of Risk Management on strategic initiatives.
•    Other duties as required.

Qualifications:
•    Two or more years of experience in insurance, claims, or risk management preferred.
•    Working knowledge of claims handling and common commercial insurance coverages.
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills.
•    Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly with billing and records.
•    Ability to learn complex programs and follow established processes and authority limits.
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Outlook.
