SharePoint Business Analyst (Hybrid)
Location: Chelsea, MA (Hybrid – 1 day/week onsite)
Duration: 1 year, on-going
Employment Type: Contract, 40 Hours/Week
Our client is seeking an experienced SharePoint Business Analyst to support a large-scale initiative to migrate network file shares to Microsoft 365 SharePoint Online and OneDrive. This role will work closely with business units, IT teams, and stakeholders to assess current file storage structures, document requirements, analyze permissions and security models, and recommend SharePoint solutions that align with business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather and document business requirements, use cases, and business processes related to file storage and collaboration.
- Conduct stakeholder interviews and workshops across multiple business units.
- Analyze network file shares, security groups, and user permissions.
- Create and maintain project documentation, application inventories, process flows, and SharePoint models.
- Identify applications and processes that rely on existing network drives and document business impacts.
- Develop recommendations for SharePoint Online and OneDrive migration strategies.
- Assist in designing SharePoint site structures, governance frameworks, and security models.
- Collaborate with architects, project teams, and security stakeholders to support solution design.
- Facilitate requirements review sessions, status meetings, and stakeholder presentations.
- Utilize Jira to document user stories, tasks, and project requirements.
- Support management briefings with findings, recommendations, and business impact assessments.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of Business Analyst experience.
- 2+ years of hands-on SharePoint Online experience in an enterprise environment.
- Experience leading or supporting migrations from network file shares to SharePoint and/or OneDrive.
- Strong requirements gathering, business process mapping, and documentation skills.
- Experience creating use cases, workflow diagrams, requirements documents, and process models.
- Knowledge of SharePoint permissions, security groups, governance, and information architecture.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with Jira, Visio, and PowerPoint.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft 365 collaboration platforms.
- Government, higher education, healthcare, or large enterprise experience.
- Understanding of records management, document management, and SharePoint governance best practices.
