Job Title: Android Software Engineer III

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Android Software Engineer III to join a collaborative engineering team focused on building and enhancing mobile applications that deliver exceptional customer experiences. This role will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining high-quality Android applications while participating in the full software development lifecycle. The ideal candidate will bring strong Android development expertise using Java, Kotlin, and Android XML, along with a passion for solving complex technical challenges and creating user-centric solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain Android applications and software solutions throughout the entire software development lifecycle.
Partner with customers, product owners, designers, architects, and other stakeholders to understand business requirements, user needs, and pain points, translating them into effective software solutions.
Create scalable and maintainable software architectures that support current and future business objectives.
Develop intuitive, responsive, and user-friendly mobile interfaces with a strong focus on customer experience.
Build and maintain backend integrations, APIs, and services required to support mobile application functionality.
Evaluate software requirements and determine appropriate technology stacks, integration approaches, and deployment strategies.
Collaborate within Agile development teams to deliver high-quality software on schedule.
Implement and support software testing strategies, quality standards, policies, and development best practices.
Apply Test-Driven Development (TDD), Continuous Integration (CI), and Continuous Delivery (CD) methodologies to improve software quality and release efficiency.
Optimize application performance, reliability, and scalability through continuous improvement initiatives.
Support application security practices, including data protection, encryption, and privacy considerations.
Research and adopt emerging technologies, tools, and development practices to enhance engineering capabilities and product innovation.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
Minimum 6 years of IT experience.
Minimum 4 years of software development experience.
Strong Android development experience using Java and Kotlin.
Experience developing Android user interfaces using Android XML (preferred over Jetpack Compose).
Experience designing, developing, and maintaining mobile applications throughout the software development lifecycle.
Knowledge of software architecture, application design patterns, and mobile development best practices.
Experience working within Agile software development environments.
Familiarity with Test-Driven Development (TDD), Continuous Integration (CI), and Continuous Delivery (CD).
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs and microservices.
Experience implementing mobile application security best practices.
Knowledge of performance optimization and application monitoring techniques.
Experience evaluating and integrating new technologies within complex software ecosystems.

Additional Information
This is a hybrid position requiring onsite presence one day per week at the Waterloo Engineering Center.
Candidates must be available to work onsite from the start of the assignment as required by the client.
Remote-only candidates will not be considered.
