Role Summary
We are seeking a Software Engineer – Embedded Systems to support the development of embedded software solutions for Turf & Compact Utility equipment. This role will be responsible for designing, developing, integrating, testing, and validating software that delivers value-added features to customers while supporting vehicle platform performance and reliability.
The ideal candidate will have experience with MATLAB/Simulink, Embedded C/C++, Embedded Operating Systems, and Model-Based Design. This individual will collaborate with software engineers, testers, and cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle, from requirements development through testing and deployment.
This position is best suited for a mid-career engineer with 3-4+ years of experience who can quickly become productive within the team. Candidates from agricultural, automotive, off-highway, mobile equipment, or embedded controls backgrounds are strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform requirements analysis, operational concept development, and software architecture activities
- Design, develop, and implement embedded software applications using C/C++ and MATLAB/Simulink
- Participate in software integration, code reviews, testing, and validation activities
- Maintain feature-level software architecture across multiple vehicle platforms and configurations
- Conduct unit testing and functional testing of software components
- Analyze and drive resolution of complex software issues
- Collaborate with engineering, validation, and testing teams throughout the software delivery process
- Support vehicle platform testing, validation, tuning, and troubleshooting efforts
- Implement new features and resolve software defects based on defined requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Software Engineering
- 3-4+ years of embedded software development experience
- Experience developing embedded applications using C and/or C++
- Experience with MATLAB, Simulink, and Model-Based Design
- Knowledge of embedded operating systems and embedded development processes
- Experience writing and reviewing software requirements
- Experience with software delivery lifecycles and development methodologies
- Strong technical problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with unit and functional software testing

- Entry-level candidates or recent graduates
- Candidates with only Computer Science backgrounds
- Candidates with Mechanical Engineering degrees lacking embedded software experience

Travel & Work Environment
- Up to 10% travel between local facilities and occasional factory visits
- Travel primarily within the Cary, Morrisville, and Fuquay area
- Drive personal vehicle for local business travel (mileage reimbursed per policy)
- Metatarsal footwear required for applicable facility visits (expense eligible)
