Pay Range: $57-$58.75 per hour
Summary
The Software Design & Release Engineer is responsible for the successful planning, validation, release, and in?vehicle support of TCU software across multiple global vehicle programs and electrical architectures. This role operates in a fast?paced, high?visibility environment and requires strong cross?functional coordination, disciplined release management, and hands?on vehicle support from early development through production.
**Note** This is a hybrid position requiring on?site presence four (4) days per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end?to?end release of TCU software into core vehicle release systems and artifact repositories (e.g., WERS, IVS, JFrog).
- Release program?specific software variants in alignment with vehicle program milestones.
- Ensure software releases meet quality, timing, and governance requirements.
- Establish and maintain the BTP supplier project framework.
- Define clear deliverables, timelines, milestones, and acceptance criteria.
- Author and release Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) covering all software variants.
- Manage associated Engineering Development & Testing (ED&T) funding activities.
- Own and execute all engineering sign?off activities in alignment with the Global Product Development System (GPDS).
- Develop, maintain, and release key engineering documentation, including:
- Vehicle?specific configuration specifications
- Network Interface Designs (NID)
- Special Characteristics Communication & Agreement (SCCA) documents
- Requirements and regulatory classifications
- Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R)
- Perform on?site software flashing, validation, diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
- Support vehicles from early development builds (EBB) through OK?to?Build (OKTB) and into production.
- Partner with system integration and vehicle operations teams to resolve software and integration issues.
- Collaborate closely with:
- Vehicle program teams
- System integration and electrical architecture teams
- Software development and release teams
- Vehicle operations and OTA organizations
- Support successful vehicle launches and robust over?the?air (OTA) deployment campaigns.
Education & Experience
- Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree
- Education Preferred: Master’s Degree
- Experience Required: Relevant experience in automotive software, systems engineering, or vehicle integration

Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong understanding of vehicle software planning, integration, and release lifecycles.
- Hands?on experience with automotive software release systems (e.g., WERS, IVS).
- Practical knowledge of automotive quality and validation processes, including:
- DVP&R (Design Verification Plan & Report)
- DFMEA (Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis)
- Proven experience operating within Agile development frameworks.
- Advanced proficiency with Agile tools such as Jira and Confluence.
- Demonstrated ability to establish project governance, define milestones, manage deliverables, and control critical?path timelines.
