Role: Senior Automation Developer

Position Overview
- We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Automation Developer to join a dynamic software verification and validation team supporting the development of advanced automotive products. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and executing automated test solutions that ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of production software.
- The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Python development, object-oriented programming, software test automation, and verification methodologies. You will work closely with software engineering, architecture, and validation teams to deliver scalable automation frameworks and comprehensive testing strategies for complex embedded systems and infotainment platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, maintain, and execute automated test solutions for automotive software products.
- Translate product and software requirements into comprehensive verification and validation strategies.
- Create and maintain automated test frameworks, test suites, and validation tools using Python and object-oriented programming principles.
- Develop scalable and reliable automation architectures that support evolving software platforms and releases.
- Implement and improve test automation strategies across multiple verification and validation scopes and integration levels.
- Collaborate with software design, development, and verification teams to ensure product quality throughout the software lifecycle.
- Participate in Agile development processes, partnering with internal teams and external suppliers to deliver high-quality software solutions.
- Support continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines and recommend enhancements from a software verification perspective.
- Leverage software configuration management, source control systems, DevSecOps practices, and reliability engineering principles to improve testing efficiency and product quality.
- Verify and validate software functionality across multiple technology stacks, including automotive operating systems and infotainment platforms.
- Contribute to the development of modern testing methodologies, including test-driven development (TDD) and behavior-driven development (BDD).
- Support troubleshooting, maintenance, observability, and operational excellence initiatives for deployed software solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 8 years of professional experience in software verification, validation, test automation, or related software quality engineering disciplines.
- Minimum 5 years of experience developing automation strategies, test frameworks, and comprehensive test plans.
- Strong expertise in Python programming and object-oriented software development.
- Hands-on experience designing and implementing automated testing solutions.
- Experience working with software configuration management systems, source control platforms, and CI/CD environments.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle methodologies and Agile practices.
- Ability to work onsite four days per week in Ottawa, Ontario.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with requirements engineering, electrical architecture, software architecture, or functional architecture.
- Knowledge of vehicle network architecture and automotive infotainment systems.
- Experience validating software platforms running on QNX and Android Automotive.
- Experience leading Agile teams and coordinating activities with internal engineering organizations and external suppliers.
- Proven success building scalable, reliable, secure, and high-performing automation frameworks.
- Experience with DevSecOps, site reliability engineering, software operations, and observability practices.
- Experience with pair programming, test-driven development (TDD), and behavior-driven development (BDD).
