Sr. Manager, Customs & Trade

Drive North American trade agreement programs and content compliance for a major automotive organization. You will own US and Canada FTAs—including end?to?end USMCA governance—while partnering across Purchasing, Manufacturing, Engineering, Finance, Legal, and Government Affairs to deliver duty savings and minimize compliance risk.

Compensation: $165k-170k.  (up to 20% bonus)
Benefits: 2 weeks PTO, 16 days of Holiday Pay, etc. 
Hybrid schedule: Onsite Mon – Th and remote on Fridays

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and manage compliance programs for USMCA and other U.S./Canada FTAs, including tariff and trade programs, reconciliation, and country-of-origin compliance.
  • Calculate duty and tariff forecasts for production vehicles and parts.
  • Lead cross-functional governance reviews for USMCA with departments such as Customs, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Engineering, Finance, and Legal.
  • Create strategies for implementation and compliance for USMCA and all U.S./Canada FTAs.
  • Analyze sourcing decisions for country-of-origin impact and trade compliance.
  • Prepare and validate submissions to U.S. CBP, Mexico SAT, Canada CBSA, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Manage internal reviews and external audits related to trade content activities.
  • Oversee relationships with external service providers for content-related activities.
  • Interpret economic factors (raw materials, volume, supplier dynamics) and their impact on trade compliance.
  • Lead and develop a team, setting goals, allocating resources, and assessing performance.

Requirements: 

  • Extensive knowledge of customs, trade, content and origin regulations, compliance, operations, strategy, and cost reduction. Knowledge of Customs Valuation, Free Trade Agreements, County of Origin, and other customs/import related compliance matters under US law.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Ten or more years of related professional experience. Five or more years in a trade compliance management position for an automotive, manufacturing, or other complex industry. Experience in supplier FTA solicitations. Experience in RVC and LVC calculations. Experience developing, implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving trade compliance policies and procedures. Knowledge of US and foreign customs procedures and requirements. Extensive knowledge of USMCA rules and regulations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related discipline. US Customs Broker’s License in good standing with US Customs and Border Protection required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Working knowledge of Automated Commercial Environment (ACE), ACE Portal, and Automated Broker Interface (ABI).
