Maintenance Engineer / Team Lead
Location: East Moline, IL (Onsite)
Shift: 2nd Shift (2:00 PM – 10:00 PM)
Schedule: 40 hours/week with potential overtime and occasional Saturdays
Interview Process: 1 round (onsite preferred for local candidates)
Pay: $42 an hr

Job Overview
We are seeking a Maintenance Engineer / Team Lead to provide engineering analysis, advanced troubleshooting, and technical leadership in a manufacturing environment. This role will support factory equipment reliability, maintenance operations, and continuous improvement initiatives while leading a team of skilled trades employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide engineering support and advanced troubleshooting for manufacturing equipment and tooling
- Diagnose equipment failures, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions
- Assign and monitor work for skilled trades personnel to support maintenance, repairs, and project work
- Develop and manage short-term work schedules to ensure timely completion of maintenance activities
- Plan and execute preventative maintenance strategies to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, and safety
- Review and optimize spare parts lists, preventive maintenance plans, and technical documentation
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies; promote safe work practices across the team
- Identify and address risks, escalating critical safety or operational issues when necessary
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support ongoing production and equipment performance improvements
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3+ years of maintenance, mechanical engineering, or factory automation experience
- Minimum 3+ years of troubleshooting equipment in a manufacturing environment (tooling, fixtures, assembly equipment)
- Experience performing preventative maintenance and supporting equipment reliability initiatives
- Prior experience supervising or leading teams of 20+ employees in a union environment
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to work 2nd shift and support extended hours or weekends as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in maintenance leadership within a union environment
- Strong technical background in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic system diagnostics
- Experience with automation systems, including Allen-Bradley components and Rockwell PLC software
- Experience working with machine communication protocols (Ethernet, DeviceNet, Serial, Profibus, Modbus)
- Experience using SAP PM module for maintenance tracking and planning
- Knowledge of safety standards (OSHA, NFPA 70E, NFPA 79)
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering field preferred, or equivalent hands-on experience
