Details: 12-month contract, opportunity for direct hire, fully onsite role
Pay Rate: $57.00 – 60.00/hr. with benefit inclusions
Job Summary
The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that purchased products and materials meet defined quality standards, manufacturing specifications, and applicable regulatory requirements. This role focuses on supplier evaluation, inspection, auditing, and continuous improvement to prevent defects, reduce supplier-related risks, and strengthen overall supply chain quality performance.
Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections, testing, and assessments of incoming supplies to identify quality issues and ensure compliance with specifications and legal standards.
- Develop and maintain supplier inspection, testing, and evaluation mechanisms, including quality control plans and assurance processes.
- Monitor supplier defect rates, analyze trends, and generate quality performance reports to identify risks and improvement opportunities.
- Guide and support suppliers in reducing defect rates through corrective actions, root cause analysis, and process improvements.
- Research and assess potential suppliers by evaluating manufacturing environments, quality practices, and operational procedures.
- Perform supplier quality audits to ensure compliance with organizational requirements and applicable federal or regulatory standards.
- Support supplier performance improvement initiatives, including implementation of process controls, quality assurance plans, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Participate in supplier evaluation, selection, certification, and re-certification activities using predefined criteria and documentation.
Years of Experience and Education
- Years of Experience: 5–7 years of relevant experience in supplier quality, manufacturing quality, or a related field
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, or a related discipline
Skills Required
Core Skills (Required):
- Supplier quality management and supplier evaluation experience
- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis capabilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast?paced environment
- Experience with quality systems and documentation (e.g., PPAP, nonconformance management, process change management, deviations)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Data analysis and reporting skills, including Excel-based analysis
Additional Technical Skills (Preferred):
- Experience with procurement or supply chain systems
- Knowledge of capacity planning concepts such as Rough Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP)
- Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies
Soft Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in both individual and group settings
- Effective organization and time management skills
- Self-starter mindset with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to collaborate effectively across cross?functional and global teams
