Senior Programmer Analyst

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:00 PM business hours (required)
Work Arrangement: Hybrid preferred for local candidates; remote candidates will also be considered
Location: Warwick, RI (Hybrid)
Compensation: $40-42 per hour (with benefits) 

Epitec is seeking a Senior Programmer Analyst to support application development, system integrations, and analytical services within a higher education environment. This role is ideal for a programming professional with experience building API integrations, working with ERP platforms, and supporting enterprise applications.

Position Overview

The Senior Programmer Analyst will design, develop, maintain, and support software applications and integrations that enhance institutional operations and user experience. This position works closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, and vendors to deliver innovative technology solutions while ensuring system reliability and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

– Design, develop, test, debug, and document software applications and integrations
– Build and maintain API-based integrations and portal components
– Partner with business users and technical teams to gather requirements and define solutions
– Participate in code reviews, testing, and quality assurance activities
– Troubleshoot technical issues, system defects, and performance concerns
– Support day-to-day operations and ensure timely resolution of support tickets
– Develop and maintain robust test plans and technical documentation
– Provide end-user support and training as needed
– Collaborate within a DevOps-focused environment to deliver scalable solutions
– Work with third-party vendors and support teams to resolve escalated issues
– Support enterprise and campus applications as assigned

Required Qualifications

– Associate degree in a related field and at least 4 years of programming experience
– Experience working within a higher education environment (required)
– Strong proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL
– Experience with one or more programming languages such as:
Java
JavaScript
Python
Shell Scripting
Perl
HTML
– Experience using source control platforms such as GitHub
– Proficiency with Ellucian Experience or a similar Integration – Platform as a Service (iPaaS) solution
– Experience developing API-based integrations, including platforms such as Ellucian Ethos Integration
– Experience creating user-facing portal components or experience cards
– Understanding of relational database structures and data relationships
– Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
– Excellent verbal and written communication skills
– Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines
– Self-starter who can work independently while collaborating effectively with a team

Preferred Qualifications

– Bachelor’s degree in a related field with programming experience
– Experience with SaaS applications, particularly within education environments
– Familiarity with Ellucian Banner ERP or similar ERP platforms
– Experience with application administration, user permissions management, and vendor support
– Additional higher education technology experience

The ideal candidate has a strong technical foundation, hands-on experience with Ellucian technologies and integrations, and a customer-focused approach to solving complex business and technical challenges. Candidates with a background supporting enterprise applications in higher education will be highly preferred.
