Position: Vehicle Software & Systems Validation Engineer
Location: Dearborn, MI (On-site)
Employment Type: Full-Time Contract
Pay: $44-46 per hour
Description: We are seeking a Vehicle Software & Systems Validation Engineer to support the validation of vehicle software, embedded systems, and integrated vehicle features. This role is responsible for ensuring functional, performance, quality, safety, and customer requirements are met throughout the product development lifecycle.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with automotive software validation, embedded systems testing, root cause analysis, and Agile development environments. This position requires extensive interaction with vehicles, laboratory equipment, test benches, and cross-functional engineering teams to validate next-generation vehicle technologies, including infotainment and connected vehicle systems.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute functional, system, integration, regression, and user acceptance test scenarios based on requirements and Agile user stories.
- Perform hands-on software and system validation in vehicles, laboratory environments, and test benches.
- Prepare and maintain vehicles, testing tools, software, laboratory equipment, and validation environments.
- Interface with development teams to understand testing requirements and ensure requirements are testable.
- Analyze test results, logs, telemetry data, and software behavior to identify failures and determine root causes.
- Debug and troubleshoot software and system failures, reproducing defects and supporting resolution efforts.
- Collaborate with software, hardware, systems, and feature engineers to validate fixes and support program milestones.
- Log and document test results, pass/fail status, and defects within JIRA and associated test management tools.
- Participate in root cause investigations related to software defects and hardware quality issues.
- Support test planning, execution, monitoring, reporting, and release validation activities.
- Provide effort estimates during sprint planning and contribute to Agile development processes.
- Review and maintain laboratory hardware nodes, implementing corrective and preventive maintenance practices.
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Python or similar scripting languages.
- Contribute to test automation enhancements, process improvements, and validation strategies for future vehicle programs.
- Identify opportunities to improve testing efficiency, quality metrics, and overall development velocity.
- Create detailed documentation, bug reports, and technical validation results.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- 3-5 years of experience in automotive software testing, vehicle validation, systems engineering, or a related field.
- Experience performing in-vehicle testing and embedded software validation.
- Strong background in functional testing, defect management, and root cause analysis.
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum development environments.
- Hands-on experience with test planning, execution, and validation processes.
- Experience utilizing test management and defect tracking tools.
- Technical Skills: Software Testing & Validation, Test Execution & Documentation, Embedded Systems Testing, Python or similar scripting languages, Root Cause Analysis, JIRA, Agile/Scrum Methodologies, Troubleshooting & Debugging, Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred:
- Test automation and automated scripting experience.
- API interaction and data parsing.

- Toolchain development for vehicle operations.
- CANalyzer and CANoe experience.
- Understanding of automotive communication networks.

- Familiarity with ISO 26262, ASPICE, and automotive regulatory standards.
- Experience with: Jama, TestRail, Git, CI/CD environments, Software release validation processes
- Over-the-Air (OTA) software update validation experience.
- Technical writing and process documentation skills.
- Technical Competencies: Python scripting and automation, API testing and integration validation, Data parsing and analytics, Telemetry interpretation, Software release and CI/CD workflows, Test framework development, Automotive systems integration
