Senior Project Manager – Hybrid (Local Required)

Location: Chicago, IL (2 days/week in-office)
Job Type: W2 Contract
Pay Rate: $60-65/hourly with optional benefits packages

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead project management functions and activities across the organization.
  • Identify and resolve project issues and risks in a timely manner.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring on project management best practices (scope, time, cost, communications, risk).
  • Ensure responsibilities, authorities, and accountability of all project staff are clearly defined and understood.
  • Identify and remove cross-organizational barriers impacting multiple projects or programs.
  • Collaborate with senior IT and business leaders to assess investment initiatives, goals, timelines, funding, staffing, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of project financials.
  • Manage staff with full accountability, emphasizing talent development and succession planning.
  • Set direction for project management practices, processes, and procedures.
  • Ensure consistency of project management practices across all projects.
  • Build and facilitate a community of practice for project managers, promoting best practices and lessons learned.

Additional Requirements

  • Senior-level PM with 10–12 years of experience leading large-scale, cross-functional projects.
  • Proven ability to manage multi-million dollar projects involving MSPs and multiple vendors.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with experience working with senior executives.
  • Expertise in project accounting, budgeting, operational costs, accruals, and capital vs. expense activities.
  • Ability to manage and drive multiple projects and workstreams simultaneously.

Technical Acumen (Preferred)

  • Security tool implementations and upgrades.
  • Identity Access Management (IAM).
  • Enterprise Change Management.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Deep technical knowledge of project management practices and processes.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated integrity and professionalism in leadership and management.
  • Problem-solving skills with a results-driven mindset.
  • Familiarity with the insurance industry and its products/services.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software.

Soft Skills

  • Self-directed and proactive.
  • Capable of managing ambiguity and scope creep.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to grasp technical concepts and jargon.
  • Skilled in influencing senior executives and driving results in a matrixed environment.
  • Effective in managing MSPs and vendors.

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10–12 years of related work experience, including 5 years in management.
  • Relevant certifications preferred.
