Job Title: Sales Tax Associate
Contract Duration: 8 months, possible extension
Work Arrangement: Remote
Work Schedule: 8am-5pm CST
Pay Range: $30.00-$35.00 per hour
Summary
The Sales Tax Associate assists in the compliance and audit functions of the Sales Tax Department. This individual will work with other team members and multiple accounting and invoicing programs to gather, analyze and present information needed for tax compliance and audit backup.
Responsibilities
- Assist Billing Operations to calculate and invoice Sales Tax
- Renew and apply for business licenses.
- Prepare and file sales and use tax returns
- Assist with sales tax audits.
- Process tax payments with multiple taxing jurisdictions to ensure timeliness and accuracy.
- Obtain thorough knowledge of internal sales tax and business license processes.
- Prepare general ledger reconciliations for assigned accruals and submit reconciliations to management for review.
- Support multiple department projects, as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelors or Associates Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration with a minimum of 2 years of sales tax experience
- Excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills
- Strong problem solving and organization skills with critical attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications with solid Excel skills
- Knowledge of Avalara or Vertex Software
- Knowledge of Quickbooks or familiarity with navigating through ERP/accounting systems
- CCH or TTR tax research experience
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while ensuring accuracy and compliance
