Overview

We are seeking an experienced Structural Analyst III to support aerospace tooling and ground support equipment (GSE) programs. This role focuses on advanced structural analysis, FEA, and engineering support across design, development, and manufacturing environments.

  • Location: Kent, WA (Onsite)
  • Shift Time: 8 hours/day, 5 days/week (Part-Time, 40 hours)
  • Pay Rate: $65-85/hour with benefits 

Responsibilities

  • Perform strength assessments using classical methods and finite element analysis (FEA) for tooling and GSE
  • Create, document, and review stress analyses to support engineering drawing release
  • Mentor tooling designers on stress, stability, and fracture analysis best practices
  • Provide technical guidance on trade-offs between cost, risk, and performance
  • Support cross-functional teams in design development, analysis, and trade studies
  • Lead conceptual and detailed analysis of tooling and equipment for structural, mechanical, hydraulic, and fluid systems
  • Serve as technical point of contact for vendor-developed tooling projects

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • 8+ years of experience analyzing tooling or GSE in aerospace, automotive, or similar industries
  • Experience developing and validating FEMs using Ansys or NX/Nastran
  • Strong FEA experience using 1D, 2D, and 3D elements
  • Experience analyzing weldments, machined parts, and assemblies
  • Proficiency in hand calculations, including:
    • Free-body diagrams and load calculations
    • Bolted joint analysis (preload, stiffness, shear/tension)
    • Welded joint analysis (sizing, stress, failure modes)
  • Experience with steel and aluminum tooling, fixtures, and weldments
  • Familiarity with structural codes (AISC-360, ASME B30/B31, ASME BTH-1)
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Experience with Creo and/or Siemens NX
  • Strong track record of project delivery
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective communicator across technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Customer-focused with strong problem-solving ability
