Job Type: On Going Contract, W2 

Expected hours per week: 40 hours per week 

Schedule:  Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, Onsite 

Pay Range: $25 per hour 

Job Description:  

We are seeking a skilled CNC / Manual Machinist to support the repair, refurbishment, and machining of critical gas turbine and rotating equipment components. This role is responsible for setting up, programming, operating, and troubleshooting a variety of CNC and manual machine tools while maintaining strict quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate will have experience machining large-scale components, interpreting technical drawings, and working within tight tolerances in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Champion a strong safety culture by promoting and maintaining a “Safe to Start” mindset. 

  • Set up, align, machine, grind, and perform runout corrections on large rotors, turbine components, and complex parts to precise tolerances. 

  • Program, operate, and troubleshoot CNC lathes, Vertical Turning Lathes (VTLs), milling machines, and manual machine tools. 

  • Read and interpret OEM drawings, repair engineering instructions (REIs), work instructions, blueprints, and digital routers. 

  • Apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) principles to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality compliance. 

  • Calculate and adjust machining parameters, including speeds, feeds, coolant flow, depth of cut, and tooling offsets. 

  • Monitor machining operations, identify out-of-tolerance conditions, and make necessary machine adjustments to maintain quality standards. 

  • Select, align, and secure fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials for machining operations. 

  • Conduct inspections and verify finished parts meet engineering specifications and customer requirements. 

  • Support both Rotor Shop and Machine Shop operations based on production and customer demands. 

Required Qualifications 

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. 

  • Minimum of 3 years of machining experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

  • Strong experience operating both CNC and manual machine tools. 

  • Proficiency in machining operations including:  

  • CNC Mills 

  • CNC Lathes 

  • Manual Mills 

  • Manual Lathes 

  • Vertical Turning Lathes (VTLs) 

  • Grinding and Burnishing Processes 

  • Ability to perform precision machining on large rotating equipment and complex components. 

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications. 

  • Working knowledge of algebra, geometry, and machining calculations. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience supporting the repair and refurbishment of:  

  • Steam Turbine Rotors 

  • Gas Turbine Rotors 

  • Gas Turbine Cases and Components 

  • Aero-Derivative Components 

  • Value Rack Repairs 

  • Experience machining and repairing gas turbine components, including:  

  • HSPT 

  • GE10 

  • Frame 3 (FR3) 

  • Frame 5 (FR5) 

  • Frame 6 (FR6) 

  • Frame 7 (F7) 

  • Previous experience in turbine repair, power generation, aerospace, heavy industrial, or rotating equipment environments.
