Occupational Health Nurse
Location: Champaign, IL or Peoria, IL
Schedule: Full-Time | 3rd Shift | On-Site
Duration: 12-Month Contract
Pay Rate: $52 – $56 an hr
We are seeking an experienced Occupational Health Nurse to join a dynamic occupational health team supporting employees in a manufacturing and distribution environment. This role is ideal for a highly skilled Registered Nurse who is comfortable working autonomously while collaborating with medical professionals, HR, and leadership to promote employee health, safety, and wellness.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide occupational health nursing services related to employee illness and injury.
- Assess, triage, and manage workplace injuries and medical concerns.
- Respond to and support onsite medical emergencies.
- Conduct post-offer medical evaluations, drug testing, and return-to-work assessments.
- Perform DOT drug testing, fit-for-duty evaluations, and OSHA-mandated surveillance exams.
- Maintain accurate medical records, reporting, and clinic documentation.
- Partner with HR, Environmental Health & Safety, and leadership teams on health-related initiatives.
- Support disability case management and injury investigations.
- Deliver wellness education and employee health promotion programs.
- Provide occupational health coverage and support to multiple facilities when needed.
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- 3+ years of experience in occupational health, acute care, emergency care, or related clinical settings.
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of:
- OSHA regulations
- ADA compliance
- Ergonomics
- Health promotion programs
- Emergency medical response
- Workplace safety initiatives
- Occupational Health Nursing certifications are a plus.
