Position: Accountant

Location: Helena, MT OR Chicago, IL (Hybrid)

Employment Type: Full-Time Contract

Pay: $39-43 per hour

Description: This position is responsible for the Claims/Checks/Refund balancing for the Commercial as well as Government Line of a Business.

Responsibilities:

  • Review of daily claims offshore balancing processes utilizing Alteryx Automated System and follow-up on any variances with partner areas or vendor resources
  • Perform accounting and analysis at an advanced level, preparing journal entries and account reconciliations, reporting and communicating issues/discrepancies to management and recommending operational solutions
  • Assist with project support impacting various areas of Financial Operations
  • Control and monitor various departmental accounting related activities
  • Complete journal vouchers
  • Develop ad-hoc reports
  • Generate monthly recap information necessary to support monthly statistical reporting
  • Research & troubleshoot challenging questions and unusual cases, responding to complex or escalated questions, issues, or volatile situations
  • Report operational activity contracts with preparing YTD financial statements for the line of business and subsidiary companies
  • Partner with operational departments to obtain support for entries and processing prior/current period adjustments based on the changes
  • Support the internal as well as external audit inquiries including MAR, audit services as well as EY requests on a monthly, quarterly & annual basis
  • Provide support to the automation projects and provide input from accounting perspectives for process improvements
  • Point of contact for various adhoc inquiries for claim, transactions, activities and suspense

Requirements:

  • Bachelors in Accounting or Finance and at least 3 years' accounting experience; OR 6 years of accounting experience
  • Experience auditing accounts to ensure they are in balance, cash has been allocated, and aging is current
  • Experience with monthly preparation of account reconciliations and research of any variances that arise due to reconciling items
  • Intermediate to Advanced MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint knowledge
  • Previous Alteryx experience 
  • Keen analytical skills and very detail oriented
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task
  • Clear, concise written and oral communication with good grammar and word choice
  • Ability to read and interpret financial reports

Preferred:

  • Experience with Macros, Formulas, Monarch Tool, and PowerBI
