Job Description:
The main function of an accountant is to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports to determine or maintain record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, or other financial activities within an organization. A typical accountant is responsible for analyzing and communicating financial information for clients.
Job Responsibilities:
• Prepare, examine or analyze accounting records, financial statements or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
• Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.
• Develop, implement, modify, and document recordkeeping and accounting systems.
• Compute taxes owed and prepare tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting or other tax requirements.
• Prepare forms and manuals for accounting and bookkeeping personnel and direct their work activities.

Typical task breakdown:
- Compilation of NAIC Statutory Basis Financial Statements
- Booking of Journal Entries into Oracle
- Performance of Account Reconciliations
- Research and analysis of financial transactions
- Coordination and process of premium tax payments, as well as assessments and fees for the US based Insurance Companies
Interaction with team:
- Coordination of activities
- Support work volume amongst team members
Team Structure
- Statutory reporting team is currently constructed with a Statutory Accounting Manager and 3 experienced staff. The Statutory Accounting Manager reports to the Regional Controller and works with the Senior Accounting Manager. The Statutory team works together with the Insurance closing team on key accounting processes in addition to the
Education & Experience Required:
- Years of experience: 5-7 years required. Will accept a candidate who has more than 7 years of experience if they are the right candidate.
- Degree requirement: Bachelors degree required, preferably in Accounting/Accounting Concentration. As long as the candidate has accounting experience in their career, a bachelor’s degree in another field will suffice.
