Are you looking to gain hands-on experience in accounting, finance operations, invoice processing, and financial reporting? We are seeking a detail-oriented Finance & Operations Assistant to support a Senior Financial Analyst in a professional higher education environment. 

Position Details

  • Job Title: Accounting Clerk / Temporary Finance & Operations Assistant
  • Employment Type: Temporary Contract
  • Schedule: Part-Time, 20-25 hours per week
  • Hours: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
  • Start Date: September 14, 2026
  • End Date: December 14, 2026
  • Location: Chicago, IL / Remote Flexibility Available
  • Pay Rate: $16.00 – $20.00 per hour

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Review, log, and track incoming invoices for accurate and timely processing.
  • Monitor invoices from designated suppliers and verify purchase orders, payment status, and supporting documentation.
  • Identify discrepancies and collaborate with stakeholders to resolve issues.
  • Organize and maintain financial records, reports, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with preparing recurring financial reports and compiling data from multiple sources.
  • Support reconciliation activities by comparing invoice records against budget and expenditure data.
  • Perform data entry and maintain invoice tracking and financial reporting spreadsheets.
  • Communicate professionally with vendors and internal teams regarding invoice-related questions.
  • Assist with special projects and ad hoc assignments as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous administrative, accounting, finance, or office support experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately with numerical data.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data entry, sorting, filtering, and basic formulas.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage recurring responsibilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling financial information.
  • Experience with Oracle or other ERP systems is a plus but not required.
