Epitec is seeking to fill an HR Coordinator – Attendance Specialist to support the Human Resources team for the largest global automaker at a major manufacturing facility in Flat Rock, MI. This role is fully onsite, Day Shift (possibly 9am – 5:30pm), and reports to the HR Manager.
As an Attendance Specialist, you’ll ensure the National Attendance Program, FMLA, medical leave of absence, and tardiness program are administered in accordance with union agreements, company policy, and local collective bargaining agreements.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop advanced knowledge of contract language for attendance and discipline processes
- Investigate employee attendance records and issues using HR systems
- Create daily attendance reports and provide progress/status updates
- Hold daily attendance meetings with employees and union representatives
- Administer corrective discipline write-ups and correct attendance records
- Input coding for personal days, bereavement, jury duty, FMLA, medical leaves, etc.
- Follow up with line management to close out open attendance/tardiness issues
- Audit attendance and tardiness coding for accuracy
- Serve as subject matter expert for line management on attendance policy interpretation
- Maintain all required documents related to FMLA administration
- Act as liaison between line management, medical department, and labor relations
- Identify opportunities to streamline attendance processes
- Build relationships with management, union reps, and labor relations
- Support payroll specialist as needed
Required Skills & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis)
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources
- Experience working with union in a manufacturing environment with daily interactions with union staff, hourly employees, and leadership
- Demonstrated leadership behaviors, interpersonal, teambuilding, and communication skills
- Conflict leadership skills
- Self-starter with multitasking experience in a dynamic, fluid environment

- Required: High School Diploma / GED
- Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources
