Audio Video Security Systems Technician
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Work Arrangement: Onsite
Contract Duration: 1-year, with possible extension, W2
Pay: $42/hr
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Audio Video Security Systems Technician to install, configure, test, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial and institutional audio, video, CCTV, access control, security, and teleconferencing systems.
This is a hands-on technical position supporting AV setups for meetings, press conferences, and special events, as well as maintaining integrated security and communications equipment. The technician will also install and remove cabling and related infrastructure while coordinating with other technical teams and trades as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, test, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair audio, video, and security systems.
- Support CCTV systems, including cameras, monitors, matrix switchers, digital video recorders (DVRs), and associated software.
- Install and maintain access control, intrusion detection, panic alarm, life safety monitoring, and security monitoring systems.
- Support public address, intercom, monitoring, and call systems.
- Install and maintain IP-based audio/video teleconferencing systems.
- Work with AV equipment including codecs, automated cameras, video displays, audio mixers/processors, video servers, and digital interface controllers.
- Provide audio and video setup and technical support for meetings, press conferences, and special events.
- Troubleshoot equipment when systems are moved, modified, or expanded.
- Install and remove cables and cabling infrastructure, including wire management systems, patch panels, and jacks, according to industry standards.
- Support integrated AV, access control, and security monitoring systems.
- Coordinate with other crafts and trades during installations, maintenance, and repairs.
Required Skills & Experience
- 3+ years of experience installing, configuring, testing, maintaining, and repairing audio, intercom, CCTV, and security systems in commercial, industrial, or institutional environments.
- At least 1 year of journey-level experience.

- Structured cabling, patch panels, and jacks
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with other technical teams and trades.
Education & Licensing
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Valid Class C driver’s license with no restrictions required.
Physical Requirements
Candidates must be able to:
- Regularly lift 10 to 25 pounds, with occasional lifting over 25 pounds.
- Regularly use 6-foot or taller ladders.
- Perform work requiring bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and reaching.
- Possess the physical dexterity, color perception, and visual acuity necessary to safely perform the essential functions of the position.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience working with commercial AV and security systems and can confidently troubleshoot equipment in the field. Experience across CCTV, access control, intercom, teleconferencing, AV equipment, and structured cabling will be especially important for this position.
