Expected hours per week: 40
Schedule: 2nd Shift
Pay: $34.00-$37.00/hr
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Logistics Supervisor to support second-shift axle assembly and logistics operations at a Detroit manufacturing facility. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for supervising up to 30 hourly employees, maintaining material flow, managing manpower, and ensuring production lines have the parts and support needed to operate efficiently.
The ideal candidate has a strong background supervising hourly employees in a UAW/union manufacturing environment, preferably within the automotive industry.
What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supervise and coordinate hourly employees across logistics and axle assembly operations.
  • Manage manpower, absenteeism, line coverage, and overtime.
  • Ensure materials and parts are available to keep production lines running.
  • Monitor production and logistics KPIs, including Hours Per Unit (HPU).
  • Oversee shipping and receiving activities for finished axles and components.
  • Lead shift kickoff meetings and communicate priorities between shifts.
  • Work closely with production, maintenance, assembly, materials, and supplier teams to resolve issues.
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, equipment performance, and efficiency.
  • Maintain production tracking, quality documentation, personnel records, and reports.
  • Troubleshoot production, material flow, and processing issues on the shop floor.
  • Ensure overtime and workforce practices are managed according to UAW guidelines.
  • Provide weekend coverage as required.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 7+ years of supervisory experience, ideally within automotive or high-volume manufacturing.
  • Experience directly supervising employees in a UAW or union environment.
  • Experience managing hourly manpower, staffing, attendance, and overtime.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing production processes, logistics/material flow, and quality control.
  • Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • General understanding of manufacturing machinery, tools, and equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Automotive manufacturing experience.
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business or a related field.
  • SAP experience.
  • Power BI experience.
  • Experience managing production KPIs through dashboards or other reporting systems.
  • Shipping, receiving, dock, or material-handling experience.

What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a hands-on manufacturing leader, not someone who manages entirely from an office. You should be comfortable being on the shop floor, leading hourly employees, adjusting manpower when employees call off, responding to material shortages, monitoring performance, and solving problems before they impact production.
Strong UAW supervisory experience combined with automotive manufacturing or plant logistics experience would make you an excellent fit for this opportunity.

Benefits: 80 hours paid time off, and medical insurance contributions, dental vision and our 401k retirement savings plan.
