JOB DETAILS FOR A BUSINESS OPERATIONS SPECIALIST:
Seeking a Business Operations Specialist 3 to support Caterpillar’s Autonomy & Automation Customer Success Strategy Team within Cat Technology.
Onsite: On-site, part-time
Schedule: First shift (morning or afternoon shift depending on candidate preference)
Pay Rate: $34–$36/hour
JOB SUMMARY:
Support daily contract and commercial activities for technology customers, including NDAs, customer trials, and standard legal agreements.
Act as a business operations liaison supporting non-IT projects, contract administration, and small-to-medium project coordination.
Maintain project documentation, track budgets and expenditures, and support negotiation and administration of contract modifications.
Work closely with legal counsel and business development teams to support customer partnerships and technology adoption.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain vendor and customer relationships and act as a business analyst for non-IT projects
- Establish and maintain communication services across business units and project teams
- Review contracts, cost proposals, and contract supplements
- Support negotiation, administration, extension, termination, and modification of contracts
- Establish and document business and project management processes
- Maintain storage and retrieval of project communications, documentation, and business metrics
- Track project budgets and expenditures and monitor costs against budgets
- Predict potential budget overruns and provide recommended solutions
- Set up project and work breakdown structures
- Support acquisition planning, proposal preparation, and market research
- Perform administrative duties such as documentation filing and data management
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, economics, finance, accounting, or related field preferred
- Associate degree with relevant experience also considered
- 5–7 years of relevant business operations, contracts, or project coordination experience
- Internships accepted only if paired with additional professional experience
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to apply accounting and mathematical principles
- Knowledge of business and management principles related to strategic planning and resource allocation
- Ability to analyze business trends and project future revenues and expenses
- Experience supporting contract and commercial activities preferred
- Exposure to different types of contracts preferred
