Overview
Epitec is seeking a Cloud Engineer II with strong Google Cloud Platform (GCP) expertise and a software development background to support the design, deployment, and optimization of enterprise cloud infrastructure and managed services. This role is ideal for an engineer who can balance cloud infrastructure responsibilities with application support, code-level troubleshooting, observability, automation, and platform reliability.
The ideal candidate will have experience building scalable cloud environments, implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC), supporting modern DevOps practices, and working with cloud observability tools such as Dynatrace and Splunk.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and deploy cloud-based infrastructure and managed services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Develop and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available cloud environments that support enterprise applications.
- Collaborate with architects, security teams, product teams, and other stakeholders to create cloud solutions aligned with business and security requirements.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform.
- Configure and manage cloud services including IAM, Secret Manager, Cloud DNS, Cloud Load Balancing, and Kubernetes environments.
- Design and support high-availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR) architectures.
- Develop automation scripts to provision and manage cloud resources.
- Monitor platform performance, usage trends, and reliability to ensure optimal scalability and cost efficiency.
- Support CI/CD pipelines and DevOps initiatives.
- Optimize cloud infrastructure, storage solutions, and resource utilization.
- Assist with cloud modernization efforts and migrations from on-premises environments.
- Troubleshoot cloud applications and services, including making occasional code-level changes in Java or Python when required.
- Utilize observability tools such as Dynatrace and Splunk to monitor, diagnose, and improve system health and performance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- 4+ years of overall IT experience.
- 3+ years of software development experience.
- 3+ years of experience working with Java and Python.
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred).
- Knowledge of cloud networking, security, IAM, and cloud-based storage solutions.
- Experience with Cloud SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Experience with backup, recovery, and high-availability architectures.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and cloud automation.
- Familiarity with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) concepts and practices.
- Experience using Dynatrace and Splunk for monitoring and observability.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AIPGEE/Apigee and API management technologies.
- Experience with Kubernetes and containerized environments.
- Additional programming experience in Java, Python, or Go.
- Previous experience supporting large enterprise environments.
- Prior experience working within Ford development processes and environments is highly preferred.
