Now Hiring: Controls Engineer
Mapleton, IL | On-Site | 12-Month Contract
Pay: $49 – $52 an hr

We are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to support automation, system design, and process improvement efforts within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge automation initiatives and contribute to the development of controls engineering standards.

Location: Mapleton, IL (On-site, 5 days/week)
Schedule: 1st Shift (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM) + 5–10 hours OT weekly

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support electrical design from concept through system completion while maintaining project schedules
  • Test, evaluate, modify, and calibrate automation systems and instrumentation
  • Analyze plant processes and implement continuous improvement initiatives
  • Troubleshoot hardware, controls systems, and manufacturing processes
  • Perform technical calculations (electrical requirements, motor controls, safety standards)
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements

Daily Work Includes:

  • Controls system troubleshooting and fault recovery
  • Updating system documentation and supporting firmware/software upgrades
  • Leading small to mid-sized automation projects
  • Collaborating with engineering teams on production and system improvements

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of controls/automation engineering experience
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong experience with:
    • Allen-Bradley PLC programming
    • HMI programming
    • Fanuc robotic programming
  • Solid understanding of control systems engineering

Preferred:

  • Functional machine safety design and integration experience
