Now Hiring: Controls Engineer
Mapleton, IL | On-Site | 12-Month Contract
Pay: $49 – $52 an hr
We are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to support automation, system design, and process improvement efforts within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge automation initiatives and contribute to the development of controls engineering standards.
Location: Mapleton, IL (On-site, 5 days/week)
Schedule: 1st Shift (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM) + 5–10 hours OT weekly
Key Responsibilities:
- Support electrical design from concept through system completion while maintaining project schedules
- Test, evaluate, modify, and calibrate automation systems and instrumentation
- Analyze plant processes and implement continuous improvement initiatives
- Troubleshoot hardware, controls systems, and manufacturing processes
- Perform technical calculations (electrical requirements, motor controls, safety standards)
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements
Daily Work Includes:
- Controls system troubleshooting and fault recovery
- Updating system documentation and supporting firmware/software upgrades
- Leading small to mid-sized automation projects
- Collaborating with engineering teams on production and system improvements
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of controls/automation engineering experience
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience)
- Strong experience with:
- Allen-Bradley PLC programming
- HMI programming
- Fanuc robotic programming
- Solid understanding of control systems engineering
Preferred:
- Functional machine safety design and integration experience
