The Role
We are looking for a highly motivated engineer who is driven to deliver innovative products that keep customers safe. Must be a self-starter and work effectively cross?functionally. Working as an Electrical Module Design Release Engineer (DRE) provides a strong foundation of leadership skills.
The Electrical Module HW DRE is responsible for definition of requirements, execution of design, analysis, development, testing, and management of engineering projects for Electrical Module components where creativity, initiative, and independent judgment are involved. Additionally, the Electrical Module DRE provides technical direction over a Product Development Team consisting of engineers and engineering support personnel.
This role is responsible for the technical project management and design release of a wireless charging system, including managing supplier timing, running PDT meetings, issue investigation and resolution, and ensuring part deliveries to benches, vehicle retrofits, and assembly plants.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain Interface Control Design (ICD) strategy and ICD templates
- Develop and maintain commodity?specific documentation
- Generate and maintain global subsystem/component technical specification templates (SSTS/CTS)
- Lead resolution of technical issues
- “Close the loop” on learnings by updating required information (Best Practices, specifications, Statements of Requirements, templates, etc.) and document progress in a problem resolution tracking system
- Work cross?functionally, coordinating multiple suppliers
- Lead and manage supplier resident engineers
- Support sourcing activities
- Generate technical solutions for current, new, and major programs
- Perform complex design analysis
- Initiate documents to provide engineering authority and maintain math/CAD data
- Work with engineering functions, suppliers, and plant personnel to implement cost reduction, methods, and product improvements, and support build programs
- Validation of assigned electrical modules
Required Qualifications
- BS in Engineering, Physics, Math, or Computer Science
- 2+ years of related experience
- Knowledge of microcontroller architectures, memory technologies, and programming
- Understanding of hardware design and failure modes in electronic modules
- Knowledge of vehicle serial data communications
- Demonstrated proficiency in writing and comprehending software and hardware requirements
- Knowledge of software verification and validation processes
- Knowledge of testing methods and associated tools
- Ability to translate text?based functional requirements into software algorithms and models
- High level of analytical ability to solve unusual and complex problems
Preferred Qualifications
- DFMEA training
- Knowledge of software algorithm design and software architecture
- Engineering change management experience
- Electronic validation experience
- DFSS Black Belt certification
- Vehicle communication tool experience
- Wiring experience
- Design and development of safety?critical systems or components
