Location: Mossville, IL (On-Site)
Duration: 24 Months (+possible extension)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Compensation: $33-$36/hour
Benefits: PTO, Medical insurance, 401K

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a Dev/Research Engineer 2 to support the development and testing of advanced large dual-fuel engine technologies. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers and facility teams in a hands-on engine development environment focused on testing, troubleshooting, and continuous product improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and oversee engine testing activities to ensure successful execution of development programs.
  • Troubleshoot engine and test cell issues to minimize downtime and improve productivity.
  • Coordinate with engineering, facilities, instrumentation, and maintenance teams to resolve technical challenges.
  • Analyze test data and document engine and test cell hardware issues.
  • Assist with test setup, instrumentation, and data acquisition activities.
  • Participate in daily team meetings, provide project updates, and contribute to technical problem-solving discussions.
  • Review upcoming test plans and prepare engines and test cells to meet testing objectives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 2-4 years of engineering experience (internships considered).
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical or electrical test setups and data acquisition systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of diesel engine systems and operation.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with data analysis and visualization tools such as MATLAB, CANape, or DIAdem.
  • Familiarity with emissions and measurement equipment such as Horiba, AVL, or Allen Bradley systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Experience supporting engine testing, validation, or development programs.
