Embedded Software Engineer 2
Location: Mossville, IL
Schedule: First Shift, Onsite
Duration: 12-Month Contract
Compensation: $40-44/hr W2 + benefits
About the Role
We are seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to support Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) validation activities for embedded control systems. This role focuses on system verification, test automation, troubleshooting, and validation of software and hardware integrations in a hands-on engineering environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute validation test plans for embedded control systems and ECUs.
- Configure, operate, and troubleshoot HIL/SIL validation environments.
- Create and maintain automated test scripts, data collection tools, and validation reports.
- Analyze defects, perform root cause investigations, and support software and hardware integration testing.
- Collaborate with software, controls, systems, and validation engineers to resolve technical issues.
- Support test execution, debugging, documentation, and continuous improvement efforts.
Required Skills
- Experience with embedded software validation, verification, or testing.
- Hands-on experience with MATLAB/Simulink.
- Python scripting or test automation experience.
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
- Knowledge of C or C++.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and support hardware troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with CAN/J1939 communication protocols and diagnostic tools.
Preferred Skills
- HIL or SIL testing experience.
- Experience with dSPACE or Vector tools (CANoe/CANalyzer).
- Embedded controls or ECU validation experience.
- Knowledge of test automation frameworks and software development lifecycle practices.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 2-4 years of relevant experience (applicable internships considered).
