Engineer 2 – Full Stack Engineer (React / Java / Node.js)
Location: Seattle, WA
Work Model: Hybrid (Onsite Monday-Thursday, Remote Friday)
Employment Type: 1-year W2 Contract
Compensation: $68 – $70/hr + Benefits

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Full Stack Engineer with strong experience in modern front-end and back-end technologies to support the development and enhancement of large-scale commerce and retail technology platforms.

This role will focus on building scalable web applications, developing high-performance APIs and services, and supporting cloud-native solutions used across retail and point-of-sale ecosystems. The ideal candidate is passionate about end-to-end ownership, enjoys solving complex technical challenges, and thrives in collaborative, fast-paced environments.

This is an excellent opportunity for a full stack engineer who enjoys working across the entire application stack, partnering with cross-functional teams, and delivering impactful solutions that support enterprise retail operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end web applications using modern front-end and back-end technologies
  • Build scalable, reusable, and maintainable UI components using React
  • Develop backend services and APIs using Java (Spring Boot), Node.js, or similar technologies
  • Design, build, and integrate RESTful APIs and microservices
  • Partner closely with Product Managers, UX Designers, and Engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Ensure application performance, scalability, reliability, and security through engineering best practices
  • Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to technical decision-making
  • Write clean, maintainable, testable code and implement automated testing strategies
  • Conduct code reviews and help maintain engineering standards across the team
  • Support production releases, troubleshooting activities, and future on-call support rotations
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipeline improvements and cloud-native application initiatives
  • Support integrations with enterprise retail and commerce systems

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of full stack software development experience
  • Strong experience with React, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
  • Backend development experience with Java (Spring Boot) and/or Node.js
  • Experience building and integrating REST APIs
  • Understanding of microservices and modern application architectures
  • Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL or DynamoDB
  • Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing
  • Knowledge of cloud-native application development
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with TypeScript and modern frontend development practices
  • Strong experience with Java/Spring Boot
  • Experience with Next.js or other modern React frameworks
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud services (EC2, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, ECS/EKS, etc.)
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized applications
  • Exposure to event-driven architectures and messaging technologies such as Kafka, SNS, or SQS
  • Experience supporting retail, commerce, POS, or other enterprise applications
  • Experience supporting production systems and participating in on-call rotations
