Factory Automation Engineer I

Industrial Automation | PLC Programming | Manufacturing Controls

? Location: Grovetown, GA (Augusta Area)
? Work Schedule: Onsite | 1st Shift (6:00 AM – 2:30 PM)
? Duration: 12-Month Contract
? Pay Rate: $40-$42/hour
? Overtime available as needed

We are seeking a Factory Automation Engineer to support manufacturing automation, controls engineering, and production systems in a large-scale industrial environment. This role is ideal for an engineer with hands-on experience programming PLCs, supporting automated equipment, and troubleshooting manufacturing systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design, update, and maintain electrical control systems, PLC programs, and HMI interfaces
  • Support installation, integration, and networking of manufacturing equipment
  • Develop and maintain communication interfaces between shop floor equipment, PLCs, MES, and SCADA systems
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production and equipment downtime issues
  • Support manufacturing process improvements and automation initiatives
  • Work with cross-functional teams, contractors, and vendors to complete automation projects
  • Lead controls engineering efforts on equipment upgrades and system enhancements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of experience in Controls, Automation, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of HMI development and industrial automation systems
  • Experience with SQL databases
  • Understanding of electrical design principles and industrial controls
  • Strong problem-solving and project management skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with MES and SCADA platforms
  • Allen Bradley/Rockwell PLC experience
  • Ignition SCADA experience
  • Manufacturing automation and machine integration experience
  • Industrial networking and device connectivity knowledge
  • Experience supporting production environments
