Financial Analyst

Chicago, IL (Hybrid – 3 Days Onsite / 2 Days Remote)
$30.00 – $35.00/hr
Contract through December 2026 with potential for extension or full-time conversion based on performance (not guaranteed)

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Financial Analyst to support financial operations, account management, grant administration, and reporting activities. This role is ideal for professionals with strong analytical abilities, accounting knowledge, and experience maintaining financial accuracy in a complex environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, analyze, and report on financial information, budgets, forecasts, and projections
• Perform account reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records in accordance with accounting standards
• Create and process journal entries to correct financial system discrepancies
• Review financial reports for accuracy, consistency, and compliance requirements
• Assist with monthly and annual fiscal closing activities, including reconciliations and supporting documentation
• Prepare financial reports, dashboards, and data summaries for internal stakeholders
• Maintain organized electronic financial records to support audit readiness and transparency
• Support grant management activities, including financial reporting, modifications, amendments, re-budgeting requests, and award closeouts
• Coordinate documentation and responses for grant audits and compliance reviews
• Provide financial analysis and technical guidance to internal departments and stakeholders

Qualifications

• Strong financial analysis, accounting, and reconciliation experience
• Advanced attention to detail and account analysis skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
• Ability to analyze financial data and identify discrepancies or trends
• Experience preparing reports, summaries, and supporting schedules
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and compliance
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

Preferred Experience

• General ledger accounting and journal entry preparation
• Financial reporting and account reconciliation
• Budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
• Grant accounting, grants management, or sponsored research administration
• Audit support and compliance documentation
• Financial systems and ERP platforms
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
