Manager, Customs & Trade Operations

Overview

Nissan is seeking a Customs & Trade Operations Manager to lead import/export operations across the U.S. and Canada. This role will oversee customs compliance, broker management, and trade operations strategy while supporting a complex automotive supply chain. You’ll lead a team, manage critical systems, and ensure regulatory compliance while driving operational efficiency.

  • Shift: Standard day 
  • Pay Rate: $140,000-150,000 base salary + up to 10% bonus + $565/month car allowance + relocation assistance

Responsibilities

  • Lead U.S. & Canada import/export operations for vehicles, production parts, and equipment
  • Manage customs brokers, ACE portal, ISF/AES filings, and GTM systems
  • Oversee non-standard shipments, prototype imports, and temporary import programs
  • Own CTPAT program, customs bonds, LOAs, and powers of attorney
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. customs regulations and internal policies
  • Conduct audits and implement process improvements to reduce risk and cost
  • Manage vendor relationships and perform cost/benefit analysis on operations
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with supply chain, compliance, and global teams
  • Investigate and resolve complex operational issues across multiple locations
  • Lead, develop, and manage team performance (U.S. & Canada direct reports) 

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. Customs Broker License (required – non-negotiable)
  • Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Accounting, or related field
  • 10+ years of import/export or trade compliance experience
  • 2+ years of leadership experience in a complex environment (automotive/manufacturing preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. customs regulations, valuation, classification, and compliance programs
  • Experience with ACE Portal, ABI, and trade systems
  • Proven experience managing brokers and trade compliance processes
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Canada/Mexico import/export operations
  • Global Trade Management (GTM) system experience
  • Background in supply chain or logistics environments
  • Experience with CTPAT and CBP programs
