Job Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Data Center Technician/Engineer to support onsite operations, infrastructure deployments, and incident response within a complex data center environment. This role requires strong Layer 1 infrastructure knowledge, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to execute installs, moves, and reconfigurations efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and respond to onsite risks and high-priority incidents; troubleshoot issues, manage queues, support shift turnovers, and escort vendors
- Execute data center activities including system installations, data room moves, decommissions, reconfigurations, and power-down events
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Service Owners, and SMEs to validate requirements and complete assigned user stories
- Support Layer 1 infrastructure design and implementation, including cabling, physical network layouts, and documentation
- Contribute to capacity planning, inventory management, and automation efforts (CI/CD pipelines, APIs)
- Assess impact of infrastructure changes on hardware, software, and data center services
- Maintain and improve technical documentation and operational procedures
- Participate in agile ceremonies, demos, and knowledge sharing within the team
Required Qualifications
- 1–3+ years of experience deploying and supporting data center environments (new builds, expansions, or renovations)
- Strong understanding of structured cabling (copper & fiber – short/long range, indoor/outdoor plant)
- Knowledge of IT infrastructure components: LAN/WAN/SAN, firewalls, servers (Windows/Linux/Unix), storage, wireless, DAS
- Familiarity with industry standards: EIA/TIA, IEEE, NEC, ISO
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with internal teams and external vendors
- Self-starter with strong collaboration skills
- Strong documentation and technical writing ability
- Bachelor’s degree in CS, CIS, Networking, Telecommunications, or equivalent experience
