Mainframe Software Engineer (COBOL / z/OS) – Service Quality Team
We’re looking for a Mainframe Software Engineer to join our FCSD/Service Quality team, supporting critical Recall Suite applications and helping drive modernization initiatives.
This role is a mix of hands-on development, production support, and cloud migration work, with a strong focus on COBOL-based mainframe systems and integration with modern platforms like GCP.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as the primary Mainframe Developer for Recall Suite applications
- Provide on-call and production support, troubleshooting and resolving issues
- Develop and maintain COBOL and JCL-based applications (batch & real-time)
- Partner with Product Owners and cross-functional teams to deliver features and manage backlog
- Support defect resolution and prioritization
- Contribute to application modernization efforts, including migration to Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Implement and support system integrations (APIs, SFTP, z/OS Connect)
- Perform system support, audit, and maintenance activities
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- 7+ years of mainframe development experience
- Strong experience with:
- COBOL (IMS), JCL, CA7
- DB2 and/or BigQuery
- Batch and real-time processing
- 2+ years working with system integrations:
- z/OS Connect, REST/SOAP APIs, SFTP
- Experience with source code tools (Endevor, GitHub)
- Strong troubleshooting and production support experience
- Ability to work independently and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
Nice to Have
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Exposure to BigQuery
- Modernization or migration project experience
