Epitec is seeking to support a leading global automotive manufacturer by hiring a Machining Launch Tooling Engineer for an urgent manufacturing launch assignment in Sterling Heights, MI.

This role partners with headquarters launch teams and suppliers to ensure successful delivery of machining processes, tooling systems, and production readiness. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in machining tooling, launch support, PPAP documentation, continuous improvement, and high-volume manufacturing operations.

Job Details

  • Position Title: Machining Launch Tooling Engineer

  • Location: Sterling Heights, MI

  • Schedule: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM

  • W2 Contract: Long-Term

  • Pay Range: Market Rate

  • Work Environment: Fully Onsite

  • Urgency: URGENT REQUIREMENT

Responsibilities

  • Support machining processes through tooling development and optimization

  • Support implementation and management of GTSV tool tracking systems

  • Identify tool-dominant features and implement effective process controls

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and productivity

  • Complete PPAP quality launch documentation

  • Investigate manufacturing issues and develop corrective action plans

  • Validate corrective actions on supplier and internal processes

  • Lead and conduct process audits to ensure Powertrain process discipline

  • Create manufacturing process documentation and instruction sheets

  • Deliver capable tooling and machining processes for gear manufacturing operations

  • Lead variability reduction and lean manufacturing initiatives

  • Ensure compliance with plant, corporate, governmental, and environmental standards

  • Support ISO 14001 compliance and internal auditing activities

Requirements

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 5+ years of tooling, machining, manufacturing engineering, or related experience

  • Tooling and tool design experience

  • Machining process knowledge

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices

  • Strong communication and team collaboration skills

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

  • High-volume production machining tooling experience

  • Gear blade grinding experience

  • Royal and/or Zoller tool presetter programming experience

  • Lean Manufacturing experience

  • Six Sigma experience

  • FMEA, PPAP, and DOE experience

  • CNC Milling experience

  • Manufacturing Engineering experience
