Location: Pontiac, IL (Onsite)
Duration: 12-Month Contract + Possible extension
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-3:00 PM
Compensation: $43.00-$47.00/hour

Position Overview
Our client, Caterpillar, is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to support production operations and process improvement initiatives within a high-volume, precision machining environment. This role will work closely with manufacturing, quality, operations, and maintenance teams to optimize production processes, troubleshoot manufacturing issues, and drive continuous improvement efforts.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machining operations, CNC programming, process development, and production support within a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support daily manufacturing operations and production processes on the shop floor.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing and process-related issues to improve quality, efficiency, and productivity.
- Investigate defects, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Develop, validate, and document process improvements and manufacturing standards.
- Support process change notices (PCNs), testing, and validation activities.
- Create and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and engineering reports.
- Collaborate with Quality, Operations, Design, and Maintenance teams to improve process stability.
- Train and support operators on new processes, standards, and best practices.
- Monitor production performance and recommend improvements to equipment, tooling, workflows, and manufacturing methods.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, Tool & Die, Machining, or a related field. Equivalent progressive manufacturing experience will be considered.
- Experience supporting production within a machining or manufacturing environment.
- Strong CNC programming and process development experience.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and engineering documentation.
- Experience troubleshooting manufacturing processes and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with grinding operations, including OD grinding, ID grinding, centerless grinding, or honing.
- Experience within high-volume, precision manufacturing environments.
- Experience supporting automated manufacturing cells.
- CAD software experience.
- Knowledge of machining processes, tooling, and production optimization techniques.
