Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Designer to support a motor replacement project at a major automotive manufacturing facility in Sterling Heights, Michigan.
This role will be responsible for installing five new Lenze motors, directing and supervising trades personnel, and performing the disassembly and reassembly of motors on power roller bed systems. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on mechanical experience with industrial equipment, motor installations, and troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and commission new Lenze motors on power roller bed systems.
- Disassemble and reassemble industrial motor assemblies and related equipment.
- Supervise and coordinate trades personnel during equipment installation activities.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and resolve mechanical issues during installation.
- Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project requirements.
- Collaborate with plant personnel and contractors to support project completion.
- Provide technical support and guidance throughout the installation process.
Required Qualifications
- Experience installing and troubleshooting Lenze motors.
- Strong mechanical maintenance, installation, and repair background.
- Experience disassembling and reassembling industrial equipment.
- Ability to supervise contractors, millwrights, electricians, or other trades.
- Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- 5+ years of mechanical engineering, maintenance, installation, millwright, or related industrial experience.
- Associate Degree in Mechanical Technology or equivalent hands-on experience preferred.
- Ability to travel occasionally as project needs require.
Preferred Experience
- Automotive manufacturing experience.
- Experience with conveyor systems, power roller beds, or material handling equipment.
- Previous work within Stellantis, Ford, GM, or Tier 1 supplier facilities.
- Experience supporting plant shutdowns, launches, or equipment upgrades.
