Duration: 12?month contract
Schedule:

  • 16 hours/week
  • Tuesdays & Thursdays: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (on?site)
  • On?call coverage: last weekend of each month (Friday 7:00 PM – Monday 6:00 AM)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Health Nurse III to support on?site clinical operations at a manufacturing facility in Lafayette, Indiana. This is a highly autonomous role for a seasoned registered nurse who thrives in an independent clinical environment and is comfortable managing both clinical care and clinic administration.

The Occupational Health Nurse III serves as an advanced nurse generalist, delivering comprehensive occupational health services while acting as a key liaison between employees, leadership, and external medical partners.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive occupational health nursing services for employee illness and injury
  • Triage and treat work?related and non?occupational conditions
  • Respond to and lead on?site medical emergencies as needed
  • Conduct post?offer physicals, drug testing, DOT testing, and fit?for?duty evaluations
  • Perform OSHA?mandated surveillance exams and health screenings
  • Support return?to?work and disability case management efforts
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and metrics using electronic and paper systems
  • Coordinate with contracted occupational health providers and external medical partners
  • Serve as a liaison between the local facility, HR, and corporate medical leadership
  • Support wellness initiatives, health promotion, and safety programs
  • Participate in investigations related to work?related injuries and regulatory compliance
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and best?practice development in occupational health
  • Provide telephonic support to additional facilities when coverage is needed

Work Environment

  • On?site Occupational Health Clinic
  • High level of autonomy with limited direct supervision
  • Regular interaction with employees, HR, and facility leadership
  • Collaborative partnership with a broader medical and safety team

Required Qualifications

  • Active Indiana Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing (Bachelor’s Degree preferred)
  • 3–5 years of experience in emergency, acute care, or occupational health/clinic settings
  • Strong triage and critical?thinking skills in an autonomous environment
  • CPR certification
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint; ability to learn HR/medical systems)
  • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality

Preferred Experience

  • Occupational health nursing experience
  • Knowledge of OSHA, ADA, EH&S, ergonomics, wellness programming, and disability management
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams
  • Certifications in occupational health or related fields
