Payroll Specialist (Hybrid)

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM CST
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3 days onsite / 2 days remote after training)
Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist with hands-on payroll processing experience to support a high-volume payroll environment.
In this role, you will be responsible for processing payroll transactions, reviewing time and attendance data, handling payroll adjustments, and supporting employees and managers with payroll-related questions.

Work Arrangement Details
- Initial training will be fully onsite
- After training: Hybrid schedule (3 days onsite / 2 remote)
- Candidates working remotely must have:
- Approved workstation setup
- Reliable internet connection
- Own equipment (company will not provide for remote work)
- Candidates without remote setup must work fully onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Process payroll transactions in Workday, including:
- Pay adjustments
- Earnings corrections
- Retroactive pay calculations
- Review and audit time and attendance data for accuracy
- Administer time tracking and absence management processes
- Investigate payroll discrepancies and resolve issues before payroll deadlines
- Process retro pay and benefit-related payroll corrections
- Run, review, and reconcile payroll and timekeeping reports
- Respond to employee and manager inquiries (AskHR and other channels)
- Provide guidance on payroll, timekeeping, and absence processes
- Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with company policies
- Support payroll audits and special projects
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2–3+ years of payroll processing experience in a corporate environment
- Experience with:
- Payroll transactions and corrections
- Retroactive pay adjustments
- Timekeeping processes
- Experience with payroll systems such as:
- Workday, ADP, UKG, PeopleSoft, SAP, or similar
- Strong understanding of:
- Payroll terminology
- Earnings, deductions, and taxes
- Timekeeping and absence management
- Advanced Microsoft Outlook and Excel skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- High attention to detail and strong math skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Experience supporting a full payroll cycle
- Ability to explain:
- Retro pay calculations
- Timecard corrections
- Payroll adjustments
- Experience auditing payroll data and resolving discrepancies
Preferred Qualifications
- Workday Payroll, Time Tracking, or Absence Management experience
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or working toward certification
- Experience supporting payroll for large employee populations
- Experience with payroll audits and reconciliations
- Knowledge of payroll compliance and wage/hour regulations
