Overview
Seeking an experienced Process Engineer with strong gear machining experience to support the launch of a manufacturing line at an axle manufacturing facility. This role partners closely with launch teams and suppliers to deliver safe, capable, and repeatable manufacturing processes that meet quality, productivity, and cost targets.

- Shift Time: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM
- Pay Rate: $40/hr with benefits
Responsibilities
- Support manufacturing process engineering activities for gear machining operations
- Partner with launch teams and suppliers during line launch activities
- Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, productivity, and cost
- Complete PPAP and quality launch documentation
- Establish, validate, and continuously improve manufacturing processes
- Develop and execute action plans to resolve internal and supplier issues
- Lead and conduct process audits to ensure compliance with Powertrain guidelines
- Perform ergonomic evaluations and implement corrective actions
- Create and maintain process documentation and work instructions
- Deliver capable processes and tooling for all gear machining operations
- Lead lean manufacturing and variability reduction initiatives
- Ensure compliance with plant, corporate, environmental, and government standards
- Support ISO 14001 compliance and internal audits
- Identify throughput constraints and drive root-cause improvements to meet production targets
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of manufacturing or process engineering experience
- Hands-on gear manufacturing experience
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and lean principles
- Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and communication skills
- High School Diploma or GED
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Hypoid bevel gear process knowledge (blanking, milling, grinding, heat treat, shot peening)
- Heat treat experience
- Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma experience
- Quality tools experience (QDAS, Minitab)
- Gear metrology experience (Klingelnberg P40, Gleason Nano Gear CMM)
- Corrective action methodologies (8D, 5-Why, CAPA)
- Lean tools (5S, Kanban, Poka?Yoke, Value Stream Mapping)
- DMAIC / DMADV experience
- FMEA, PPAP, DOE experience
