Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Production Supervisor to lead manufacturing operations in a high-volume production environment. This role is responsible for leading hourly manufacturing employees, driving safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement initiatives while developing a high-performing team.
The ideal candidate will be a strong leader who can motivate employees, resolve production challenges, and drive operational excellence through Lean Manufacturing principles and data-driven decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise hourly production employees in a manufacturing environment.
- Promote and maintain a strong culture of safety, quality, and accountability.
- Ensure production goals, efficiency targets, and quality standards are achieved.
- Analyze production issues and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and improve performance.
- Coach, mentor, and develop team members to build a high-performing workforce.
- Utilize production metrics and data to identify trends and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Partner with maintenance, quality, engineering, suppliers, and union representatives to support plant operations.
- Manage employee performance, attendance, staffing, and workforce allocation.
- Drive Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives to improve productivity and reduce waste.
- Support conflict resolution and foster positive employee relations.
Required Qualifications
- Associate Degree required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Previous experience supervising employees in a manufacturing or assembly production environment.
- Experience leading hourly production teams.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma methodologies, and/or Military Decision-Making Process (MDMP).
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a gear manufacturing environment.
- Experience with gear and pinion hobbing, milling, and maintenance operations.
- Experience working in union manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement, root cause analysis, and production performance metrics.
