Job Title: Production Technician – Material Handling
Contract Duration: 9 months with the possibility for extension
Location: North Reading, Massachusetts
Schedule: 3 PM – 11 PM (An alternative 1st shift schedule (6:15 AM – 2:45 PM) is also available for this role, and candidates are welcome to apply for both shifts.) 
Pay Rate: $20 per hour 

Job Overview

We are seeking a Manufacturing Associate to support the production of complex electro-mechanical equipment. This position may involve hands-on assembly of robotic components, warehouse material handling, or a combination of both based on business needs. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, self-motivated, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

Electro-Mechanical Assembly

  • Review assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists to prepare for production work.
  • Gather the required parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
  • Perform assembly, repair, and rework activities as needed.
  • Use power tools and related equipment in a mechanical manufacturing environment.

Material Handling & Inventory Support

  • Move, stage, and deliver materials and components to production workstations.
  • Safely operate pallet jacks, carts, and other material-handling equipment.
  • Assist with kitting, labeling, and organizing production parts.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through proper documentation and scanning.
  • Monitor supply levels, anticipate material needs, place or expedite orders, and verify receipt of supplies.

Production & Quality

  • Follow written work instructions and enter data accurately into production systems.
  • Perform quality inspections with an understanding of critical-to-quality requirements.
  • Complete required production and quality forms and system entries.
  • Interpret manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, part drawings, blueprints, and traveler paperwork.
  • Follow established manufacturing procedures and general workplace safety practices.

Team Collaboration

  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet daily production goals.
  • Work independently with strong accountability, initiative, and attention to detail.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to stand for seven or more hours per shift.
  • Ability to lift at least 30 pounds.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written instructions in English.
  • Ability to use a handheld scanner.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to use computers and manufacturing software and perform accurate data entry.
  • Willingness to perform repetitive tasks while sitting or standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team or group setting.
  • Ability to work in a mechanical environment using power tools and related equipment.
  • Availability to work all scheduled shift days, including occasional overtime.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least one year of manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with ERP, MES, or inventory management systems.
  • Ability to interpret work instructions, part drawings, blueprints, and traveler paperwork.
  • Familiarity with safe material-handling practices, including lifting, staging, cart usage, and PPE.
  • Experience with accurate labeling, inventory documentation, and production scanning.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for seven or more hours per shift.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks while sitting or standing for extended periods.
