Epitec is seeking a Project Manager (Senior Accountant) to serve as the lead accounting resource for a large, complex program. This role will oversee reconciliations, financial reporting, budget development, compliance activities, and financial operations across multiple partner organizations. Responsibilities

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations of expenditures and revenues across multiple state and external agencies.
  • Research, analyze, and resolve accounting variances.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, corrections, and adjustments.
  • Maintain general ledger integrity, chart of accounts, project accounting, grants, tasks, and cost center tracking.
  • Support quarterly and annual financial reporting to the State of Rhode Island and CMS.
  • Assist with state budget submissions, grant budgets, budget revisions, and financial narratives.
  • Support implementation and configuration of a new financial and program management system.
  • Develop financial reporting tools, dashboards, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, GASB, 2 CFR 200, and federal grant requirements.
  • Support audits, subrecipient monitoring activities, and financial reviews.
  • Provide guidance and review support for accounting staff.
  • Serve as backup to the Finance Director as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
  • Strong General Ledger, reconciliation, and journal entry experience.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and GASB accounting principles.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and complex formulas.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders and meeting deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Government accounting or public accounting experience.
  • Federal grant accounting experience.
  • Experience with 2 CFR 200 and federal financial reporting.
  • Experience supporting ERP or financial system implementations.
  • Familiarity with Workday, EUNA (eCivis), or OpenGov.
  • Experience with Power BI reporting and dashboards.
  • CPA or actively pursuing CPA certification.
